Summer Internship as a Reporter at Södermanlands Nyheter
Do you want to work and grow in a forward-thinking and fun editorial team this summer? Then Södermanlands Nyheter is the place for you!
Södermanlands Nyheter is the largest news media in eastern Södermanland. We work every day to create a leading news coverage of Nyköping, Oxelösund, Trosa, and Gnesta. During a summer internship with us, you will work in a creative environment, scrutinizing important societal issues and capturing local buzz. You will be part of the team from day one and will have a group of skilled, engaged, and helpful colleagues.
We are looking for someone with a strong commitment and interest in local journalism who is passionate about telling stories that affect people's everyday lives. You are curious, flexible, can immerse yourself in new issues, and actively work to ensure that your publications capture readers' interest. This summer, we are looking for reporters focused on news and sports. As a reporter, your tasks will include generating ideas, writing articles, taking photos, live reporting, filming, and editing video content for our website and social media. We work with a digital focus towards clear goals where readers are always at the center. Therefore, we appreciate if you are skilled at packaging your own material.
We offer you an independent job and highly value your own idea work and extensive network. We are also looking for reporters with sports expertise who are ready to cover sports news, live report on football, test running, and tell personal life stories related to the world of sports.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has or is studying at a journalism program or equivalent, or has relevant work experience.
- Has a commitment to journalism and a desire to convey news that helps the audience in their daily lives.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment where tasks may be prioritized based on the news situation.
- Is curious, enjoys meeting new people, and is willing to learn new things.
- Has a good sense of language, understands angles, and can convey straightforward news in text.
- Has basic knowledge of photography and film (with mobile and/or DSLR camera).
- Has knowledge of journalism such as interview techniques, research, information gathering, source criticism, and news packaging.
The internships may involve working hours during the day, evenings, and weekends. A B driver's license is required as driving is part of the job.
We are a values-driven company that strives for equality and diversity and therefore values applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.
Selection and interviews are ongoing, and positions may be filled before the application deadline.
